Maximum boiler horsepower requiring licensed power engineer unsupervised: 600 bhp - Unlimited LP Maximum refrigeration tonnage requiring licensed power engineer unsupervised: 1,000 tons Fees: Examination: $25 License renewal: $25 3RD CLASS ENGINEER Minimum age: 19 Education: High school, G.E.D. & 6 credit hours of boiler training Experience: 2 yrs. or hold State of Ohio Third Class Stationary Engineer License or Third Assistant Marine Engineer License issued by the U.S. Coast Guard Examination: Written (Oral or practical when necessary) Minimum time in previous grade: 1 yr Maximum engine or turbinehorsepower requiring licensed power engineer unsupervised: 1,000 hp. Maximum boiler horsepower requiring licensed power engineer unsupervised: L.P. 150 H.P. 25 BHP Maximum refrigeration tonnage requiring licensed power engineer unsupervised: 100 tons Fees: Examination: $25 License renewal: $25 NOTE: With 6 hours of an approved classroom training and 2 years experience, this can constitute the first half of an apprenticeship program.
